Weekly Road and Traffic Report for the Week of March 24-30
For the Week of March 24-30:
- Olney Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements – This project will install updated bicycle & pedestrian infrastructure along Olney Avenue and Portland Avenue between the Portland Avenue bridge and Second Street. Replacement sewer and water mains will also be installed with this project. The work began Feb. 3 – Fall 2025. For more information, visit the Olney Pedestrian & Bicycle Improvements Project website. A full intersection closure (with detour) will occur to begin the project with the closed street sections listed below.
- NW Wall Street between NW Revere Avenue and NW Lafayette Avenue.
- NW Portland Avenue between NW First Street and NW Wall Street.
- NW Olney Avenue between NW Wall Street and NE Second Street (including intersection).
- Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project, Phase 2 – This project will provide water distribution system upgrades to the Awbrey Butte area with eight interrelated water improvement subprojects. For more information, visit the Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project website.
- Portland Avenue from Ninth Street to First Street: Full road closure and local access only lasting through winter. Detour to use Ninth Street to Newport Avenue to Wall Street.
- Midtown Crossing Project (Second Street work) – A multiphase project that will replace the water main from Greenwood Avenue to Franklin Avenue in preparation for the full reconstruction occurring next spring. Phase 2 – 4 occurs from Oct. 21 – Spring 2025. Northbound lane closure with local access will occur in its entirety. Current road section work listed below. - Second Street between NE Irving Avenue and NE Greeley Avenue.
- Greenwood Avenue between NW Hill Street and NW First Street for bridge inspections and repair, single lane closure with flagging, March 26 – 27.
- Brosterhous Road between SE Orchard Grass Place and Windsor Drive for bridge inspections and repair, full road closure with detour, March 25 – 26.
- Knott Road between SE 15th Street and Raintree Drive, two-way flagging for utility installation, March 24-28.
- NW Wall Street at NW Vermont Street, flagging for utility work, March 24-April 4.
- NW Newport Avenue between NW Wall Street and NW Harmon Boulevard, flagging for utility work, March 24-April 4.
- NW Congress Street between NW Tumalo Avenue and NW Idaho Avenue and NW Idaho Avenue Southeast of NW Congress Street for tree removal, full closure with detour, April 7-8.
- NW Harriman Street between NW Kearney Avenue and NW Greenwood Avenue for infrastructure work associated with the Deschutes County Courthouse, full road closure, began July 24, 2024
- SE 27th Street between Stevens Road and Ferguson Road for sewer main and roundabout construction, full road closure with bypass road, Completion spring 2025
- SW Simpson Avenue between SW Bradbury Way and SW Century Drive and SW Columbia Street between SW Shevlin Hixon Drive and SW Emkay Dr for infrastructure work, single lane flagging on SW Columbia Street with signs on SW Simpson Avenue, March 10-25.
- NE Empire Avenue between Plateau Drive and through Lower Meadow Drive for franchise utility work, bike lane and shoulder closure on the south side of eastbound NE Empire Avenue and four-way flagging at the intersection of NE Empire Avenue and Layton Avenue, March 24-28.
- NE Cooley Road between Highway 97 and Hunters Circle, flagging for utility installation, March 27.
- NE Brinson Boulevard between NE 18th Street and NE Butler Market Road for sidewalk reconstruction, lane shift for a shoulder closure on either side of the NE Brinson Boulevard bridge, March 12 – April 4 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
- NW Wall Street sidewalk closure on the north side of the street between NW Franklin and NW Louisiana, March 17- March 28.
- NE Cooley Road sidewalk closure on the north side of the street between NE 18th Street and Ranch Village Drive for the construction of NE Andesite Street, 3/17 through late May 2025.
Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors. Always exercise increased caution within construction zones. Drivers should use designated detour routes. Nearby residential streets are for local traffic only.
Any road closure not listed within this report, please submit a service request to notify the city of any potentially unpermitted work within City right of way. Please visit the Transportation and Mobility Department to submit.
