McKay Park Temporary Parking Restriction Area
Effective July 1, 2019
In order to provide access for residents and patrons of area businesses as well as park users at McKay Park and Bend Whitewater Park, the City of Bend is partnering with Bend Parks and Recreation District and has created a McKay Park temporary parking restriction program.
Why is it a four-hour parking limit?
Neighbors, businesses and visitors have identified issues with extended parking along Shevlin Hixon Drive and neighboring streets. The City of Bend and Bend Park and Recreation District share a common goal of having compliance with parking rules and access to parks and neighboring businesses.
This pilot program follows a similar, successful pilot program for parking limits along Riverside Boulevard. There is now better access to Drake Park with improved parking turnover, and the Riverside parking limits are no longer considered a pilot project. We hope for similar changes on Shevlin Hixon Drive, Bradbury Way and neighboring streets to enable access for residents and patrons of area businesses as well as park users at McKay Park and Bend Whitewater Park.
Why isn’t it a two-hour parking limit like Downtown?
This is a pilot program, not an extension of the Downtown Parking District boundary. It is a separate and distinct project to explore ways to improve access to the Shevlin Hixon Drive area and to increase parking turnover
How will vehicles know about the four-hour limit?
Signage will be placed along Shevlin Hixon Drive, Bradbury Way and adjacent streets to notify drivers and park users about the pilot program and four-hour parking limit. The City of Bend and Bend Park and Recreation District will also use websites and social media channels to share information with residents and visitors.
What is the cost of a ticket?
Vehicles cited for exceeding the four-hour limit will receive a $50 parking ticket. Diamond Parking, the City’s parking enforcement contractor, will enforce the restriction along with Bend Police Department. Restrictions are in place 24-hours a day.
How do I pay a ticket?
Anyone who receives a ticket for parking should follow the instructions on the ticket. Some processes may differ based on which organization is writing the citation (i.e. Diamond Parking or Bend Police Department).
How do I appeal a ticket?
The instructions to appeal (or contest) your parking ticket will be on the ticket itself.
How do I report a vehicle parked longer than four hours?
If the vehicle is there between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., please call Diamond Parking at 541-317-2805. After 6 p.m., please call the Police Department non-emergency number at 541-693-6911.
Can I get a permit to park in this area for more than four hours?
Permits are available for businesses, employees and residents who live and work within the temporary restriction area for $30 a month. Permits can be purchased from the Diamond Parking office at 841 NW Bond Street #7; contact 541-317-2805, bend@diamondparking.com.

Online feedback can be provided through our service request forms. Calls to this number will be logged and the feedback recorded. Calls to this number will not be forwarded to enforcement.
