Welcome to the 2027 Neighborhood Street Safety Program – Tucson Avenue Safety Improvements Survey

As part of the Neighborhood Street Safety Program, the City of Bend is preparing to start designing safety and speed-reduction improvements along NE Tucson Way between Neff Road and Conners Avenue. Improvements will also include a 6-ft sidewalk on the west side where a gap currently exist.

This online survey includes potential design features and sample options for your consideration. Please share your preferences and any concerns regarding the proposed improvements.

The Mountain View Neighborhood District submitted NE Tucson Way between Neff Road and Conners Avenue as a safety concern because of high-speed cut through traffic in the neighborhood.

SPEED HUMPS

Speed humps are a lower profile option that can help reduce vehicle speeds in residential areas with cut through traffic. Note: speed hump locations are determined and designed based on driveway spacing requirements.

PAINTED BULB OUTS OPTION

Painted bulb outs are features that can help visually narrow the roadway at crosswalks and/or intersections. They can help make pedestrian crossings safer by visually decreasing the crossing distance and can help reduce vehicle speeds.
