Transportation and Mobility Department
Providing efficient and effective transportation infrastructure programs and maintenance to help people get where they need to go.
The Transportation and Mobility Department strives to meet the needs of our growing community by maintaining existing roadways, enhancing street connectivity, improving current modes of transportation and providing parking in high demand areas.
Streets and Operations
The Streets and Operations Division works to keep City streets in top condition. Our dedicated crews preserve pavement, fix potholes, sweep streets, control vegetation, repair signs, stripe lanes, paint curbs, remove graffiti, and manage snow and ice.
Traffic Engineering
The Traffic Engineering Division aims to keep our street network more connected focusing on neighborhood street safety, speed management through the Speed Radar Program, handling sign requests, traffic striping, managing traffic signals and maintaining bridges.
Parking
The Parking team oversees various parking areas around Bend, ensuring that all spaces for both residents and visitors are used effectively. In busy spots like Downtown Bend and Old Bend, we have managed parking districts to balance parking needs and support local businesses. Further, we’re updating parking rules and adding mobile app payment options to make parking even easier.
Bend Municipal Airport
Nestled on around 420 acres just five miles northeast of Bend the Bend Municipal Airport (KBDN) is a bustling hub for general aviation. It’s home to two flight schools and a variety of businesses, making it the third busiest airport in Oregon for takeoffs and landings.
Looking for commercial flights? Roberts Field (RDM) in Redmond, Oregon is your go-to. It’s only about a 20-minute drive north and connects you to most major western airline hubs. For more details, check out flyrdm.com.
