Awbrey Butte Waterline Construction Update – September 29, 2023

SAFETY FIRST

Drive carefully through the work zone. Please be aware of construction activities, including open-trench excavation. Open trenches are fenced off at the end of each day.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Paving on Awbrey Road, installation Awbrey Road at Wilmington Avenue

Week of October 2 construction activities:

  • Patching of service line trenches will take place along Awbrey Road between Utica Avenue and Wilmington Avenue. 
  • Grinding of the road will take place on Awbrey Road, Vicksburg Avenue, and Utica Avenue in preparation for paving.
  • Following grinding, full-width paving will take place on Awbrey Road (Portland to Saginaw & Utica to Wilmington), Vicksburg Avenue, and Utica Avenue. Parking along these streets will be restricted during this week (notifications with parking restriction details are being distributed). Drivers should expect delays for access while this work is taking place.
  • The last of the water meter boxes along Awbrey Road will be set and backfilled. 

Week of October 9 construction activities:

  • Minor landscape restoration and clean up.
  • Crews will install a concrete valley gutter at the Utica Avenue and Awbrey Road intersection to assist with drainage.
  • Final striping will take place along Awbrey Road.

Traffic Control for October 2 to October 13:

  • There will be a single lane closure regulated by flaggers along Awbrey Road from Portland to Saginaw and Utica to Wilmington. There will be no parking along either of these segments all week. Delays are expected.
  • Vicksburg Avenue and Utica Avenue will both be local access only. Parking will be restricted from Monday evening (10/2) to Wednesday evening (10/4). Delays are expected.

DETOURS IN EFFECT 

  • A portion of the streets mentioned above may be closed for excavation and water main construction activities. Please follow the necessary road closed and detour signs and reference the online detour map below for additional information.
  • Flaggers will be present for the construction activities as needed.

General Project Notes

  • Access to all local streets and driveways will be maintained with minor delays.
  • Emergency response vehicle access will be maintained throughout construction.
