Columbia Roundabout Improvements Project Update – May 19, 2021
THE SIMPSON AVENUE/COLUMBIA STREET INTERSECTION IS CLOSED; DETOURS ARE IN PLACE
SAFETY FIRST
The project area is a work zone. Pedestrians and bicyclists are asked to follow designated routes. Please stay aware of your surroundings as construction equipment is continuously moving. Motorists should follow the designated detour signs, avoiding the use of private driveways and parking lots in attempts to bypass the construction.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Colorado/Columbia Intersection is officially open. Please be alert when approaching the roundabout. It is a major traffic control change and is part of the Simpson Ave and Columbia Street detour.

Simpson Avenue/Columbia Street Intersection – May 19 through May 26
- Crews are clearing and grubbing around the intersection.
- The irrigation systems are being relocated
- Crews are prepping for sidewalks on the Northwest and Southeast legs of the roundabout.
DETOUR – SIMPSON AVENUE/COLUMBIA STREET
- The Simpson Avenue/Columbia Street intersection is closed. Construction has started, and the closure is anticipated to last through early August.
- The following detour remains in effect:

BUSINESS ACCESS
Business Access will remain open on all legs of this project affected by the upcoming detour.
