Murphy Corridor Improvements Project Update – November 13, 2020

Thank you for your interest in the Murphy Corridor Improvements Project. Construction of a new single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Murphy Road and Country Club Drive is currently underway. Construction of this phase of the project is planned to be completed in November 2020.

Construction of the BNSF Bridge Crossing is also underway. The bridge crossing is part of the new two-lane roadway between Brosterhous Road and 15^th Street, which will reduce delays between east and west Bend. The BNSF Bridge Crossing and Murphy Road Extension is expected to be completed in August 2021.

As part of the next phase of the Murphy Corridor Improvements Project, construction of a three-lane roadway with a left turn lane, a protected pedestrian crossing, shared-use paths, bike lanes, sidewalks, street lighting, and landscaping improvements are planned on Murphy Road between Country Club Drive and Parrell Road. This work is scheduled to occur from November 23, 2020, through Summer 2021. 

Construction Activities for the Upcoming Week

• Final paving of the roundabout
• Finish pouring sidewalks and curb work
• Temporary striping of the roundabout
• Installation of signage
• Continued construction of the retaining wall

Current Road Closure 

During construction of the Country Club roundabout, the Murphy Road/Country Club Drive intersection will be closed. A temporary two-way bypass road will connect Country Club Drive (south) to Murphy Road (east). Please follow detour routes and drive with caution in detour areas.

Upcoming Road Closure

Modernization Between Country Club Drive and Parrell Road, November 23, 2020-Summer 2021 (Weather Dependent) 

As part of the next phase of the Murphy Corridor Improvements Project, construction of a three-lane roadway with a left turn lane, a protected pedestrian crossing, shared-use paths, bike lanes, sidewalks, street lighting, and landscaping improvements are planned on Murphy Road between Country Club Drive and Parrell Road.

During this phase of the project, there will be a full closure of Murphy Road between Country Club Drive and Parrell Road. Local access to residences and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

Once complete, the improvements will work together to make Murphy Road safer and more enjoyable for everyone.

WESTBOUND DETOUR: Take Murphy Road to Country Club Drive. Turn right on Knott Road. Turn right on China Hat Road. Turn right on Parrell Road.

EASTBOUND DETOUR: Take Murphy Road to Parrell Road. Continue on Parrell Road. Turn right on Brosterhous Road and follow to stop sign. Turn right on Brosterhous Road and follow through Brosterhous Roundabout to Murphy Road.
