Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – October 8, 2021
SAFETY FIRST
Wintry weather is here, and forecasts have precipitation on the way. Freezing overnight temperatures bring frost and ice. Maintain more space and slower driving speeds, especially while using detours and the recently opened 9th Street roundabout.
Single-lane roundabouts, like 9th Street & Newport Avenue, are designed for speeds less than 15 to 20 mph due to their turning radii. However, traffic conditions may require even slower speeds. Visit https://www.bendoregon.gov/roundabouts for tips on using Bend’s 40+ roundabouts.
Please use additional caution when using the local access-only lane between Juniper Street and College Way. There is active excavation and loading of trucks throughout the workday. Expect delays, and follow all traffic control and flagger directions as temporary closures are necessary due to the limited work area.
