Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – September 1, 2022
SAFETY FIRST
It’s back to school time. This means more children will be walking and biking on the roads, and school buses will be running. Here are a few safe driving tips:
- Plan for extra commute time. Back to school means more cars, buses, and pedestrians are out on the road.
- Follow school zone speed limits.
- Stop for school buses.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 5 – SEPTEMBER 9
Modernization of Ninth Street to 15th Street
TRAFFIC CHANGES (beginning Thursday, September 8)
There will be a temporary lane configuration change on Wilson Avenue beginning Thursday, September 8. Westbound traffic will remain open; however, motorists will be shifted to the newly paved road on the south side of Wilson Avenue.

SE Bridgeford Boulevard will be closed at SE Wilson Avenue from Thursday, September 9, through mid-October.

Crews will be paving Wilson Avenue between Manley Place and Business Way on Tuesday, September 6, and Wednesday, September 7. Paving is expected to take two days, weather conditions permitting. What to expect:
- Schedule: Paving will begin Tuesday, September 6, and is expected to be completed Wednesday, September 7.
- Driveway Access: Driveways will be temporarily closed for limited durations (typically less than 30 minutes). Construction workers will notify businesses one hour in advance of obstructing driveways and assist in finding temporary parking on side streets during temporary closures.
- Traffic: Please be prepared for flaggers coordinating traffic control and up to 20-minute delays.
- Services: EMS, garbage, mail, and other services will be maintained.
Construction of the full project corridor is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2023.
