Core Services, Public Works and construction operations continue

Construction and Public Works operations continue, but differently

We’re here to provide Core Services for our community. Now more than ever it’s imperative for the City to continue to keep making Bend work, as other sectors are shutting down.

We’re in this together.

In response to COVID-19 and the Governor’s orders to stay home as much as possible, the City’s staff has mostly transitioned to working remotely. City staff are still providing public safety, clean drinking water, safe sewage treatment, building inspections, street maintenance, access to economic resources and more.

Our practices have changed slightly due to the required social distancing protocols. We’re making steps to keep field workers at safe distances from one another.

Oregon construction workers and contractors are permitted to continue working, as long as they follow new social distancing requirements. Each company is responsible for its own employees and everyone should maintain safe operating practices. If issues arise, additional measures may be taken either at the State or Local level.

Federal guidelines list Public Works employees as first responders, along with public safety and law enforcement. Obviously, assuring access to clean water, treating sewage, maintaining safe streets and safe buildings are essential during this crisis.
