Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – April 01, 2021

* THE 9TH STREET/NEWPORT AVENUE INTERSECTION WILL BE CLOSED APRIL 5.

* NEWPORT AVENUE FROM NW 7TH STREET TO NW 10TH STREET WIL BE CONTINUALLY CLOSED FOR 
  APPROXIMATELY FIVE MONTHS.

SAFETY FIRST

Construction brings changes to surface conditions in and around the area. Please follow designated detours and other construction signage carefully. Be mindful of your surroundings as a pedestrian or cyclist.

CONSTRUCTION WORK ZONE

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – WEEK OF APRIL 5-APRIL 9

Newport Corridor Improvements – Segment 1 

  • The next phase of work is set to begin the week of April 5. Segment 1 will be daytime work.
  • This work segment will include the closures of the NW 9th Street & NW Newport Avenue roundabout and NW Nashville Ave. (see Segment 1 Illustration below)
  • Daytime work hours will be in effect from 7:00 AM-5:30 PM.
  • Access to businesses of the NW 9th Street Roundabout area will be maintained.
  • Traffic near Highland School will be impacted by Segment 1 construction. Now more than ever, awareness of pedestrian/student traffic becomes paramount.
  • Short segments of NW 10th Street will be closed for the next week. Work hours transition to 7:00 AM-5:30 PM. See the ‘Work Zone’ in the image below.

  • EMS, buses, and many other delivery/service providers have been included on this distribution list.
