Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – October 15, 2021

SAFETY FIRST

Several orange construction cones and barrels remain along and adjacent to the construction corridor. Even though construction crews are not currently working in all areas of the project limits, these cones indicate hazards or equipment.

NW 9th St. & Newport Ave. Roundabout

Expect intermittent flagging and delays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Thursday, October 21, for work on the stormwater treatment planters within the roundabout.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Nashville/Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 1

Week of October 14 – October 21

  • Landscaping and cleanup continue along Segment 1.
  • Planters at the 9th St. roundabout are filled. 

Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 5 (Juniper St. to College Way) 

Week of October 14 – October 21

  • Existing Sewer mainline and structures are removed and replaced.
  • Existing Stormwater structures and pipes are removed and replaced.
  • Excavation of the stormwater planters begins. 

DETOURS IN EFFECT

Traffic Closures and Changes

  • NW 9th St. & Newport Ave. Roundabout – expect intermittent flagging and delays
  • The intersection at NW Juniper St. and Newport Ave. will be closed.
  • The intersection at NW Knoxville Blvd. and Newport Ave. will be closed.
  • One-way local access only on Newport Ave. from NW Juniper St. to College Way.

GENERAL PROJECT NOTES

  • Access to all area businesses along the construction corridor will be maintained. New ‘business open’ signage continues to be installed.
  • Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
  • Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
  • The ‘Tree Preservation and Removal Overview Exhibits’ can be found on the project website. These exhibits provide design details about each tree being removed and where new trees will be planted.
  • There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.

PROJECT COMMUNICATIONS

  • EMS, buses, and other delivery/service providers have been included in the project updates distribution list.
  • Please help us in spreading the word to your clients, customers, and delivery personnel regarding detouring and closures.
  • Share the project website (provided below), where others can also sign up for updates using the ‘PROJECT UPDATES’ button.
