North Interceptor Sewer Project Update – December 2, 2019

The North Interceptor Sewer Line Project is a large diameter sewer transmission line that provides additional capacity to the City’s existing sewer infrastructure and replaces portions of existing sewer infrastructure in need of repair. This project gives the City the ability to decommission several regional pump stations on the north side of the City, which reduces future ongoing operational costs.

PHASE 1 UPDATE:

Phase 1 construction began in Summer 2019 and will continue through Fall 2020.  Phase 1 runs from the City’s Water Reclamation Facility and extends west to Pioneer Loop.

• Construction of a new influent pump station at the Water Reclamation Facility continues to progress.
• Pipe is installed through Gentry Loop and Cricketwood Road, which allows unimpeded two-way traffic on the roadways.  Crews will continue to install pipe west of Cricketwood towards the canal on private property.  Please continue to drive carefully through the area and respect all construction signs and personnel.
• Crews will be excavating and installing pipe within the North Unit Irrigation District Canal.  Please note that the canal service roads are closed to the public during this construction.
• Drilling and blasting will continue to take place on the east and west side of the North Unit Irrigation District Canal on private property.

PHASE 2 UPDATE:

Phase 2 design began in Fall 2019 and will continue through Summer 2020. Phase 2 continues from Pioneer Loop through Juniper Ridge to Clausen Road just west of Highway 97.

Upcoming Activities:

• The project team is working to establish the preferred alignment of the Phase 2 sewer line.
• Crews are continuing to conduct exploratory work to gather information about existing features, utilities, and existing geology in the area.
• Property owners may be contacted by the City’s project team to discuss project details and right of entry to properties for exploratory work.
