Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – May 01, 2023

SAFETY FIRST

Roundabouts… as easy as 1, 2, 3

As we prepare for the opening of Bend’s newest roundabout in mid-May at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and 15th Street, here are some tips for safely navigating roundabouts:

  1. Slow down 
  2. Look around
  3. Be ready to yield

Reminder – if you see or hear an emergency vehicle approaching while in a roundabout, proceed to your exit and then pull over to let it pass.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 1 – MAY 5

  • Final work is underway on the 15th Street and Wilson Street roundabout with an anticipated opening in Mid-May. 
  • Paving preparation work will take place this week in advance of paving next week. 
  • Paving work is being coordinated with the larger project to pave 15th Street. Paving will be complete by the time the roundabout is opened. 
  • Irrigation and landscape work will continue over the coming weeks.

Thank you to everyone who attended the informational meeting at Larkspur Community Center on April 26. During the meeting, the project team shared plans for the third and final phase of the project. The final phase will be constructed in three stages beginning in mid-May, with Stage 1 between 4th Street and Centennial Street.

Stage One Construction: 

Modernization of Wilson Avenue from 4th Street through Centennial Street will begin in Mid-May.

15th Street Intersection Closure – February 20 – Mid-May 2023 (weather permitting)

The intersection of Wilson Avenue and 15th Street is closed through mid-May, weather permitting, for the construction of the 15th Street roundabout.

GENERAL PROJECT NOTES

  • Access to all area businesses along the construction area will be maintained. 
  • Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours. 
  • Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
  • There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.
