Outdoor debris burning will close Sunday, June 3rd at dusk

Outdoor debris burning in Deschutes County Rural Fire Protection District #2 will close on Sunday, June 3rd at dusk.

This closure corresponds with the warming weather conditions and the drying of wildland vegetation as the summer season approaches.

Outdoor debris burning in the city limits of Bend is closed by City of Bend Ordinance.

Backyard fires which include warming fires, campfires and cooking fires are allowed in the Bend area, when used within the guidelines set forth in the Bend Fire Department Burning Regulations. These are available at all Bend fire stations or a copy may be downloaded at bendoregon.gov/fire.

The Bend Fire Department reminds residents to be aware of the increased risk of potential wildfire, especially when operating tools or ATVs that can throw sparks and ignite nearby brush and grass. “Keeping dry grass and weeds cut low and generally preparing your home for wildfire will also help prevent losses from fires this summer,” recommends Deputy Fire Marshal Maniscalco. Go to www.firefree.org for tips on how to protect your home.

As a reminder to all central Oregon residents, be advised that regulations may vary between fire protection jurisdictions. Please contact your local, state or federal fire agency for specific requirements and closures.
