Urban Renewal Advisory Board (URAB) elects Chair and Vice Chair
The Urban Renewal Advisory Board (URAB) met for the first time on February 12, 2019. During this meeting, the board discussed their vision for the outcomes of a successful Core Area Project. They elected Dale Van Valkenburg to serve as Chair of the board and Whitney Swander to serve as Vice Chair.
After the meeting, the Chair and Vice Chair made the following comments about the project and their roles on the Board.
Dale Van Valkenburg, Chair
“I’m really excited about the opportunities this project presents and I am looking forward to working with City staff and the all-star consultant team. My fellow board members all have impressive backgrounds and bring a lot to the table. I’m confident we can accomplish a lot with this team.”
Whitney Swander, Vice-Chair
“Determining the viability and conditions to expand and develop Bend’s central district is important and timely. As a community we are at a critical juncture in determining how we want to grown and I’m committed to seeing potential development through the eyes of our community. I’m so glad to be a part of this great team of City staff, consultants, and fellow board members and I look forward to engaging the greater Bend community along the way.”
