Crawl Space Storage Space Fire Protection

Since the adoption of the 2011 Oregon Residential Special Code, crawl spaces are required to have ½” gypsum on the underside of joists if the space is used for storage. Bend Building Safety has determined that a full sized man-door into the space qualifies as being usable for storage. There are some exceptions for size and type of joists.
