UGB Neighborhood Association presentation

City of Bend Principle Planner Brian Rankin gave a presentation about the UGB’s history and future to the Summit West Neighborhood Association at Summit High School on Nov. 7. Neighbors engaged in a conversation about growth and infrastructure – especially on the west side of Bend. Some residents spoke of their desire not to see sprawl and busy freeways, calling for more, high-density development. Others said people live in Bend so that they can enjoy large lots and a rural feel, even while benefiting from the city’s amenities, suggesting that Bend is not the place for such urban development.

“The decisions we’re making have very strong values associated with them,” Rankin said.
