Juniper Ridge Update: June 22
The City of Bend is appreciative of the cooperation received from 100% of the established campsites to vacate the construction zone within the timeline, driven primarily by the construction schedule of the North Interceptor Sewer Line Project at Juniper Ridge. A total of 55 established campsites were identified and removed from the construction zone between February 15, 2020, and June 18, 2020. During this period, the City removed approximately 200,000 pounds of debris, disposed of nine abandoned vehicles, and financially supported cleanup, outreach, moving assistance, security measures, signage, etc. The City dedicated nearly 1,250 labor hours from the Facilities, Transportation & Mobility, Utilities and Bend Police Departments.
This process was successfully accomplished greatly in part by the City’s continuing outreach efforts to assist individuals with the moving process, and joint collaborations with multiple service providers that proved to be effective.
In one case, internal and external resources where coordinated to relocate and support an Army veteran who expressed interest in permanent housing after many years of camping at Juniper Ridge.
As of today (June 22, 2020), the construction zone at Juniper Ridge is closed and unauthorized access is prohibited.
