IRS Phone Scam

The Bend Police Department has become aware of local citizens receiving phone calls and being pressured into giving up personal and financial information. The people in these scams are purporting as employees of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and threatening unsuspecting citizens with jail time or additional financial penalties.

Even though the 2015 filing deadline has past, these scams continue on. Protect yourselves and your family members by going to:

This article explains how the IRS would properly contact you if there ever was a tax issue. If you receive a call of this nature, the IRS asks you call 1-800-366-4484 to report the incident.
