BedMart donates mattresses to Fire Dept.
BedMart, Oregon’s largest family owned mattress retailer, has teamed with Tempur-Pedic to honor Central Oregon’s firefighters. BedMart and Tempur-Pedic, makers of the most highly recommended bed in America™, are donating 35 mattresses to five fire stations in Bend, Oregon. The deliveries were made today, despite the snowy weather.
“This comes at a very opportune time, because our mattresses have not been replaced since the stations were completed in 2000 and they’re worn out after 14 years of use,” Tom Fay, Deschutes County Fire District #2 Executive Director and Bend Fire Department Facility Manager said. “This will be a great benefit to the department as a whole, especially in these times of tight finances.”
A good night’s sleep is crucial for firefighters to be well rested so they can work to keep Central Oregon communities safe. Unfortunately, due to budget restraints, old and worn out mattresses are often used past their recommended life and no longer provide proper support and spinal alignment.
“Mattresses that old do not provide the comfort and support needed for a body to recuperate from an active day. Our goal is to help customers get a good night’s sleep and we are pleased we are able to extend this to our local firefighters.” BedMart spokeswoman Elana Stone says. “They tirelessly put their lives on the line for us everyday so we want to give back to make sure their nights are as restful as possible.”
