Artists and Environmental Organizations Prepare for City Walls at City Hall’s INSIDE::OUT Art Show Opening
The City of Bend Arts, Beautification & Culture Commission’s (ABC Commission) fourth City Wall’s at City Hall art show titled INSIDE::OUT, opens First Friday, April 6, 2012. Fourteen artists were paired with The Environmental Center and its members to interpret the theme “Bend’s external environment inspires our internal environment (mental, physical, emotional & spiritual).”
Juried artists and partner organizations are: Kay Baker and Gordon Baker~Oregon Natural Desert Association, Helen Brisson~The Environmental Center, Eileen Carlton~Trout Unlimited–Deschutes Chapter, Linda Gillard~Bend 2030 Quality Environment, David Kinker~Oregon Wild, Donna Lutzky~ Commute Options, Mary Marquiss~East Cascades Audubon Society, Diane Miyauchi~The Trust for Public Land, Christopher Nolte~Bend Area Habitat for Humanity, Jennifer Poncia~1000 Friends of Oregon, Janelle Rebick~Sierra Club–Juniper Group, Vicki Roadman~Deschutes Land Trust, and Sara Wiener~Upper Deschutes Watershed Council.
ABC Commission chair, Pamela Trow-Johnson said, “The variety of art in this show inspired by these critical organizations, is amazing; from photography to textile work, this show will be the first for showing pottery and art created from upcycled plastic bags.”
Mike Riley, executive director of The Environmental Center said, “We are very excited to participate in this project. It’s a unique opportunity for The Environmental Center and our member groups to tell our stories and reach a new audience.”
The INSIDE::OUT Art Show is up at Bend City Hall from April 6th through September 28th and can
be viewed Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm and on First Fridays from 5 to 9 pm.
The ABC Commission acts in an advisory capacity, making recommendations on the appropriate role
for the City of Bend to take in supporting the arts, beautification and culture, and annually identifies
the appropriate City involvement in arts, community beautification and culture with emphasis on
