Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – May 13, 2024
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: May 13 – May 17
The last portions of Phase 3 in the modernization project spanning from Second Street to Centennial Street are currently underway, with an anticipated completion by the end of this month.
STAGE 2 Improvements: Second Street to Fourth Street
- Crews will apply the final layer of asphalt, known as the “top lift,” and complete the striping for the project.
- Landscape work and irrigation system installation are ongoing.
- Traffic signal electrical wiring work continues.
REMINDER: Beginning Monday, May 13, crews will begin installing Dura-curbs and completing striping along Wilson Avenue between Third Street and Centennial Street to protect on-street bike lanes. As a result, parking will no longer be allowed on Wilson Avenue.
TRAFFIC CHANGE IN EFFECT
Traffic light at Third Street and Wilson Avenue is converted to a temporary stop sign during construction.
The traffic signal at Third Street and Wilson Avenue has been temporarily replaced with a stop sign as part of the Wilson Avenue Corridor Project. For those traveling eastbound on Wilson Avenue at the Third Street intersection, the only option will be a right turn to go southbound on Third Street; there will be no left turn option to go northbound on Third Street. The removal of the signal places construction a month ahead of schedule, with completion expected in May.
The new traffic signal will enhance traffic flows and improve both driver and pedestrian safety.
