Wilson Avenue Corridor Project Update – November 3, 2023

SAFETY FIRST

Prepare for a new traffic pattern on Wilson Avenue next week.  

Starting on Monday, November 6, a new detour will be in place. Westbound Wilson Avenue will be closed to all traffic between Ninth Street and Hill Street.  

  • Never cross a barrier or enter a blocked road 

  • Obey posted speed limits 

  • Be patient 

  • Stay alert 

  • Watch for pedestrians and construction workers

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Week of November 6 – November 10

STAGE 1: Fourth Street through Centennial Street  

Modernization work on Wilson Avenue from Fourth Street through Centennial Street is nearing completion. Crews will be finishing landscape work along Wilson Avenue on between Fourth Street Centennial Street Wilson Avenue. 

STAGE 2: Improvements: Second Street to Fourth Street

The next phase of the Wilson Avenue Corridor Project begins on November 6.  

  • Crews will be evaluating the presence of underground utility lines on Wilson Avenue west of NW Third Street. Utility potholing involves digging a series of non-intrusive, non-destructive test holes to gather locations, depths, and material. Access to all area businesses and residences will be maintained.  

  • A new waterline will be installed on Wilson Avenue between SE Second Street and SE Third Street.  

Stage 2 Improvements Include: 

  • Safer connections for pedestrians and bicyclists at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Second Street. 

  • Upgraded signal and protected intersection design for bikes at the intersection of Third Street and Wilson Avenue. 

  • Infrastructure improvements, including the replacement of aging waterlines and installation of stormwater infrastructure.

GENERAL PROJECT NOTES 

  • Access to all area businesses along the construction area will be maintained.
  • Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
  • Daytime work hours are in effect from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. 
  • There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.
