Neff and Purcell Improvement Project Update – October 6, 2023
SAFETY FIRST
Heavy machinery and equipment are very active throughout the work zone and nearby roadways. Slow down, obey flaggers and signs, and use designated detour routes. Crews will be working Saturday, October 7.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES – October 7 – October 13
Neff and Purcell Intersection
- Concrete preparation work for new curbs continues. Crews will work Saturday, October 7.
- Sidewalk removal and replacement work on Purcell Boulevard between Neff Road to near Lotus Drive. Residents with impacted driveways will receive notification.
- Pavement removal in preparation for repaving on Neff Road from Purcell through Cliff Drive.
- Retaining wall on the northeast corner is complete. Installation of safety fencing will begin.
- Underground electrical and communications for the new traffic signal system is being installed.
- Graders are getting the imported base rock up to the exact level needed for paving.
- The franchise utilities, such as gas, power, cable, etc. are progressing towards completion of relocating facilities to their ideal locations and depths.
Purcell Extension
- Installation of the new crosswalk illumination continues
- Pouring of curb on east side of Purcell Boulevard
- Preparation work for sidewalks begins

Neff and Purcell Intersection Detour Routes
- Eastbound (south option) – go south on Eighth Street, east on Greenwood Avenue, north on 27th Street
- Eastbound (north option) – go north on Eighth Street, east on Butler Market Road and south on 27th Street
- Westbound (south option) – go south on 27th Street, west on Greenwood Avenue, north on Eighth Street
- Westbound (north option) – go north on 27th Street, west on Butler Market Road and south on Eighth Street
Temporary Pedestrian Access Routes
Please use marked temporary pedestrian detours. Please be aware these temporary pedestrian access routes will change as needed during different phases of work.
