Roundabout Safety for Bicyclists
Bicyclists are encouraged to follow these roundabout tips:
- On your approach, choose the proper lane for your route.
- Always yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks.
- Yield to traffic in the roundabout – only enter when there is a safe gap in traffic.
- Remain in your lane and maintain a good pace.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 8 – MAY 12
The intersection of Wilson Avenue and 15th Street is scheduled to open on the evening of Friday, May 12!
- Crews will work Saturday, May 6, to prepare for the 15th Street and Wilson Avenue opening.
- Paving and striping work will be completed in advance of the roundabout opening.
- Irrigation and landscape work will continue over the coming weeks.
Construction Update – Phase Three
The final phase of the Wilson Avenue Corridor Project will be constructed in three stages. The first stage of construction begins Monday, May 15, and includes the modernization of Wilson Avenue from 4th Street through Centennial Street.
- Traffic control measures will include flagging and a westbound detour between 4th and 9th Street.
- Access along the corridor will be maintained to all residential and commercial properties.
- Local access and access for emergency vehicles, mail, garbage and delivery services will be provided.
Stage 1: May 15, 2023 – Fall 2023
Modernization of 4th Street through Centennial Street Improvements include:
- Crossing at 5th Street with refuge island to help protect pedestrians
- Dura-curbs used for on-street bike lane protection
- Curb extensions to improve the visibility of pedestrians along Wilson Avenue
- Crosswalk lighting will be added at the 2nd Street and 5th Street pedestrian crossings


GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
- Access to all area businesses along the construction area will be maintained.
- Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
- Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
- There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.
