The project team will be hosting another Coffee with the Contractor event Wednesday, August 9, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. near the intersection of Awbrey Road and Roanoke Avenue to talk about the project and answer questions.

SAFETY REMINDER

Drive carefully through the work zone. Please be aware of construction activities, including open-trench excavation. Open trenches are fenced off at the end of each day.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Week of July 31 construction activities

  • Concrete restoration will take place along Vicksburg Avenue and Utica Avenue. This will include new curbs, driveway approaches and hydrant aprons. Some of the properties along these streets will have mountable curbs installed at driveways, which will temporarily restrict access to allow for cure time. The contractor has already communicated these improvements to the affected properties.
  • The installation of water meter boxes will continue along Vicksburg Avenue.
  • Crews continue to install new water main along Awbrey Road between Portland Avenue and Saginaw Avenue.

Week of August 7 construction activities

  • Concrete restoration for the items listed from the previous week will continue along Vicksburg Avenue and Utica Avenue. Some of the properties along these streets will have mountable curbs installed at driveways, which will temporarily restrict access to allow for cure time. The contractor has already communicated these improvements to the affected properties.
  • The installation of new water main along Awbrey Road will continue from Portland Avenue to Saginaw Avenue. The crew will also begin excavation for the drywell along Awbrey Road.

Traffic Control for July 31 through August 11

  • Traffic control for Vicksburg, Second Street, and Utica will include a closure to the southern entrance of Second Street between Vicksburg and Utica, but will maintain access from the north side. Once the southern entrance cures and opens to traffic, access from the north will be temporarily restricted.
  • Traffic control for the Awbrey Road work will continue with the closure of Awbrey Road between Saginaw Avenue and Portland Avenue, and traffic will be detoured to Second Street. Parking along the detour route (Second Street and Saginaw Avenue) is restricted for the duration of the detour.

DETOURS IN EFFECT

  • A portion of the streets mentioned above may be closed for excavation and water main construction activities. Please follow the necessary road closed and detour signs, and reference the online detour map for additional information.
  • Flaggers will be present for the construction activities as needed.

  • Access to all local streets and driveways will be maintained with minor delays.
