Awbrey Butte Waterline Project – Construction Update – June 30, 2023

SAFETY FIRST 

Drive carefully through the work zone. Please be aware of construction activities, including open-trench excavation. Open trenches are fenced off at the end of each day.

Backfill of new eight inch water main and Installation of new water service line along Second Street

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Week of July 3-7 construction activities:

  • Crews will not be working July 3 or July 4th.
  • Installation of permanent water main will begin along Vicksburg Avenue between Awbrey Road and 1st Street. Traffic control on Vicksburg Avenue includes a partial closure with local access. Parking will continue to be restricted on the south side of the street. 
  • Properties along Vicksburg Avenue will experience a brief disruption in water service when being transferred to the temporary water bypass. A City of Bend representative will knock on your door before these disruptions begin. 
  • Continued excavation for the drywell installation at the southwest corner of Vicksburg and Second Street.

Week of July 10 construction activities:

  • Installation of permanent water main and water services will continue along Vicksburg Avenue between Awbrey Road and 1st Street. Traffic control on Vicksburg Avenue includes a partial closure with local access on Vicksburg Avenue. Parking will continue to be restricted on the south side of the street.

  • Crews will begin to install temporary water main along Awbrey Road between Portland Avenue and Wilmington Avenue. Traffic control on Awbrey Road will include single lane closures with flaggers.

DETOURS IN EFFECT

  • A portion of the streets mentioned above may be closed for excavation and water main construction activities. Please follow the necessary road closed and detour signs, and reference the online detour map for additional information.
  • Flaggers will be present for the construction activities as needed.

  • Access to all local streets and driveways will be maintained with minor delays.
  • Emergency response vehicle access will be maintained throughout construction.
