Newport Corridor Improvements Project Update – August 19, 2022
SAFETY FIRST
As a reminder, property owners shall maintain sidewalks adjacent to their property in good repair and unobstructed. This includes low tree branches, overgrown vegetation, snow removal, and ice removal.
It is important to all of Bend’s visitors and residents to have full and unobstructed accessibility when using established sidewalks. Please take a moment and walk yours to make sure that your property is in compliance.
12th Street from NW Ogden Avenue to NW Newport Avenue will be closed until the completion of Segment 2C.

Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – 9th Street Roundabout
- Re-Installation of Bueno, the sculpture within the 9th Street Roundabout, is expected to be installed.
- Restrictions for large trucks will be in place during installation. However, regular traffic impacts should be minimal.
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 2C (12th Street & Newport Avenue Intersection)
- Preparation of the site for installation of concrete curbs and structures.
- Concrete curbs are poured along Newport Avenue and 12th Street.
- Preparation of the Dogbone concrete curbs and median.
Newport Corridor Improvements Scheduled Construction – Segment 3 (12th Street to 14th Street)
- Concrete forms are constructed for the stormwater planter walls.
- Replacement of the existing sewer main begins.

Traffic Closures and Changes
- Newport Avenue, west of 11th Street to 14th Street, is closed.
- 12th Street, north and south of Newport Avenue, will be closed.
- Northbound leg of the 14th Street roundabout.

Access to all businesses along Newport Avenue will be open through construction.
GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
- Access to all area businesses along the construction corridor will be maintained.
- Please do not enter the construction zone before, during, or after hours.
- Daytime work hours are in effect from 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM.
- The ‘Tree Preservation and Removal Overview Exhibits’ can be found on the project website. These exhibits provide design details about each tree being removed and where new trees will be planted.
- There are many construction projects in the area and throughout the City of Bend. Travel safely.

- EMS, buses, and other delivery/service providers have been included in the project updates distribution list.
- Please help us spread the word to your clients, customers, and delivery personnel regarding detouring and closures.
- Share the project website (provided below), where others can also sign up for project updates.
