Admiral & King Jehu Sewer Project Update – June 6, 2022

TENTATIVE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES FOR ADMIRAL WAY

  • Crews have begun potholing in order to locate Utility crossings; this should be ongoing throughout the week.
  • Admiral Way will be closed to thru-traffic starting early next week (tentative 6/14). Local access to residences will be provided. Please refer to the detour map below.
  • Lateral staking should now be current. Please reach out to me if you feel your lateral stake is in the incorrect location. Please note that most lateral stakes are placed five feet offset (i.e., five feet closer to your home) from the actual termination of the lateral. This is to communicate to the contractors the true location of the lateral without having to remove the wooden stake.
  • Survey staking is ongoing; please do not move or remove any wooden survey stakes.
  • Pre-hammering will begin early next week.
  • Minor tree trimming and clearing in the right of way will occur ongoing as needed. At the end of the project, the crews will tidy anything that was cleared or trimmed and still looks “rough.”

TENTATIVE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES FOR KING JEHU WAY AND KING HEZEKIAH WAY

  • Finish repair work on the maintenance hole at the King Solomon/King Hezekiah intersection has been rescheduled; an updated work schedule will be communicated via this weekly email when a date(s) has been selected.
  • There is no work planned on King Hezekiah for this week.
  • Minor tree trimming activities and clearing will occur as needed. At the end of the project, the crews will tidy anything that was cleared or trimmed and still looks “rough.”
  • Sewer main and lateral installation on King Jehu is ongoing. Approximately 1,000 feet of pipe have been installed to date.
  • Traffic control measures remain in place.

PROJECT PHOTO

Below is a photo of the sewer trench being backfilled and compacted. The excavator has an attachment that sends vibrations through the dirt, which helps eliminate air pockets and voids and provides solid compaction. Compaction is tested in various ways (both visually and using equipment) to ensure a stable ground is being constructed.

TRAFFIC CONTROL

The closure areas (on the maps below in red) and detours (blue dashed line) are shown below. Local access will be provided for homeowners living on the closed streets. You may experience minor delays when driving through the construction zone. If an excavator is in the way, make eye contact or wave, and they are typically good at moving out of the way to let traffic pass. Please proceed with caution when driving in the construction zone. We appreciate your ongoing patience.
