COLUMBIA ROUNDABOUT IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
UPCOMING CLOSURE OF COLUMBIA/SIMPSON INTERSECTION & CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
FOR APRIL 2021
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The City of Bend is preparing for upcoming construction to improve the intersection of Columbia Street/Simpson Avenue, constructing a new roundabout.
The Columbia Street/Colorado Avenue roundabout is on schedule and is anticipated to be reopen mid-May.
This project will improve safety, efficiency, and reliability of these existing stop-controlled intersections.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
- Design of the new roundabout at Columbia/Simpson is nearly complete. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-May and scheduled to be completed in early August 2021.
DURING CONSTRUCTION
- Upon re-opening of the Columbia/Colorado intersection, full closure of the Columbia/Simpson intersection is planned to start in mid-May, and is scheduled to be re-opened in early August.
- The detour during Columbia Street/Simpson Avenue construction is shown on the back of this notice.
- All travelers should follow detours and avoid work areas at all times.
- Access to all businesses near the construction area will be maintained.
- Emergency services access during construction will remain uninterrupted
- Additionally, the missing sidewalk section to the Century Park shopping area will be added.
