Murphy Corridor Improvements Project Update – September 03, 2020

Thank you for your interest in the Murphy Corridor Improvements Project. The Murphy Corridor Improvements Project addresses safety concerns, connectivity, and mobility issues in southeast Bend. 

Construction of the Murphy Road and Country Club Drive roundabout will begin on September 8 with a full intersection closure. Local access to residences and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times. The construction of the Country Club roundabout is expected to be completed in November 2020, weather permitting.

Upcoming Project Milestones

  • September 8, 2020-November 2020: Single-lane roundabout at Country Club Drive
  • Fall 2020-August 2021: Modernization between Country Club Drive and Parrell Road
  • Fall 2020-August 2021: Roadway extension between Brosterhous Road and 15th Street with a bridge overcrossing at BNSF Railway

Road Closure/Detour Information

September 8, 2020-November 2020: There will be a full closure at the intersection of Murphy Road and Country Club Drive during the construction of the Country Club Drive roundabout. During the intersection closure, a temporary two-way bypass road will connect Country Club Drive (south) to Murphy Road (east). The bypass road will provide a temporary roadway connection toward the area of Jewell Elementary School and south toward the Bend Fire Station. Construction Activities for the Upcoming Week

  • Landscape and irrigation between Brosterhous Road and Country Club Drive will be complete.
  • A temporary two-way bypass road opens on Tuesday, September 8. The bypass road will accommodate traffic around the Country Club roundabout construction area. 
  • Construction will begin on the single-lane roundabout at Country Club Drive, which includes demolition and street excavation.
  • Final landscape work will be complete in the City right of way on Murphy Road, in front of a segment of the Stonehaven neighborhood.

Please remember to:

  • Drive carefully and slowly through the construction site.
  • Please obey the posted speed limits in the work zone area.
  • Keep an eye out for construction workers, their equipment, and vehicles.
