Murphy Corridor Improvements Project Update – July 24, 2020

Thank you for your interest in the Murphy Corridor Improvements Project.

The Murphy Corridor Improvements Project addresses safety concerns, connectivity, and mobility issues in southeast Bend. Construction of a 3-lane roadway with bike lanes, sidewalks, and safe crossings is currently underway between Country Club Drive to Brosterhous Road. Construction of this phase of the project is planned to be completed in August 2020.

Upcoming Traffic Change

Please note, there will be a traffic control change on Tuesday, July 28. Following the completion of the paving of the eastbound lane of Murphy Road, vehicles currently utilizing the bypass road will begin using the newly paved eastbound lane.

A three-day closure will take place Monday, July 27 to Wednesday, July 29, between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tapadera Street between Murphy Road and Gaines Court to complete a sewer connection in advance of upcoming roadway improvements. Local access will be maintained from Silver Sage Street to all impacted properties.

Construction activities for the upcoming week

• Crews will finish prepping and pouring sidewalks.
• Paving of the eastbound lane of Murphy Road from Brown Trout Place to approximately 200 feet east of Country Club Drive and portions of the westbound lane is scheduled for Friday, July 24 and Monday, July 27.
• Beginning Tuesday, July 28, vehicles currently utilizing the bypass road will begin using the newly paved Murphy Road eastbound lane.
• Installation of utilities, sanitary sewer, and storm water facilities on the north side of Murphy Road.
• Crews will be working in the City right of way on Murphy Road, in front of a segment of the Stonehaven neighborhood. The work includes cutting the walkway at the fence line, which will result in removing the existing sidewalk. Please note, pedestrian access will be detoured in this area through the month of August. 

Traffic Changes through July 2020

Please note, several traffic changes are in effect through the end of July. Expect intermittent flagging. Traffic changes include:

• Westbound traffic detour on Murphy Road between Brosterhous Road to Country Club Drive.
• Eastbound traffic on Murphy Road will be maintained.
• Brown Trout Place will be closed at Murphy Road when westbound traffic on Murphy Road is detoured.
