Newport Potholing Begins May 11th

Crews will be performing underground utility exploration (potholing) on Newport Avenue, beginning Monday, May 11th, at various locations between College Way and 9th Street. Expect intermittent flagging and delays; side-street access will be closed to through traffic at various locations along Newport Avenue. Work is expected to last approximately two weeks, and anticipated hours of operation will be 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
 
Potholing is a technique to expose a utility prior to excavation and allows the contractor or designer to know exactly where the utility is located. This information will help the designer avoid utility conflicts during construction by designing the new utilities around the utilities that are to remain.
