Empire Corridor Improvements Project Weekly Update – February 27, 2020
NE Purcell Bridge to be Closed Until April 30th for Repairs, Safety Improvements, and Widening
The Purcell Blvd bridge that crosses the North Unit Irrigation District main canal north of NE Butler Market Rd and south of Empire Ave will be closed for 2½ months starting February 17th through April 30th. The closure is necessary to allow for bridge widening and other improvements. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will also be affected. Please follow the detour routes and stay clear of the construction zone.

Empire Crossing Structure Work Continues Through July
Work on the Empire crossing structure will continue through July 2020. The crossing structure work will not impact irrigation water for the North Unit Irrigation District.

Canal Commons Construction Near the Empire Avenue Extension will Continue through 2020
Canal Commons is a 48 unit affordable rental housing complex that is currently under construction. This development is directly adjacent to, but not part of the Empire Corridor Improvements project.

Pahlisch Homes Have Begun Construction on the Petrosa Development Between Deschutes Market Rd and Butler Market Rd
Be aware of increased construction traffic on Butler Market Rd near Eagle/Cole Rd, Deschutes Market Rd and near the Nasu Park Loop area.
Pahlisch Homes has recently started construction on their SE Bend master-planned community. This 175-acre project is located northeast of Deschutes Market Rd and Butler Market Rd. Pahlisch Homes will be constructing new roundabouts at Butler Market Rd and Eagle/Cole Rd beginning April 1st, and they will be building a new roundabout at Deschutes Market Rd and Butler Market Rd this summer. Construction activities are scheduled to continue throughout the winter months. As always, construction is dependent on weather conditions and other factors.
