Empire Corridor Improvements Project Weekly Update – November 21, 2019

Marcum and Sons Continue Work on Empire Crossing Structure

• Please stay out of construction areas for your safety and the safety of work crews.
• Construction crews plan on pouring concrete next week.
• The NUID canal trail will be closed between NE Purcell Blvd and Deschutes Market Road during construction of the crossing structure.
• The new section of Empire will connect the existing road from the east leg of the new Empire Avenue/Purcell Blvd roundabout to the intersection of NE Butler Market Road and 27th Street.
• The connection to the intersection of NE Butler Market Road and 27th Street will be made with a new roundabout that will be constructed during the calendar year 2020.
• The crossing structure is scheduled to be completed this spring.
• Access to Pine Nursery Park via the north side of the NUID canal trail will remain open during construction of the crossing structure.

NE Purcell Bridge Construction Improvements Are Moving Forward

• No pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the bridge during construction.
• Expect single-lane traffic and flaggers on and near the bridge for the next few days.
• Vehicular traffic will be maintained as much as possible with reduced speed during construction.
• Construction is scheduled to last until May 2020.
• NE Purcell Blvd is expected to have complete closures at times during construction.
• Expect minimal delays.
• The NUID trail is closed between Purcell.

Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors.
