Weekly Construction Update – October 18, 2019
NUID Canal Trail Closure to Begin Friday, October 18th
- The NUID canal trail will be closed between NE Purcell Blvd and Deschutes Market Road.
- The 10-month closure is needed to widen the Purcell Blvd canal bridge and construct a new bridge for the Empire Blvd road extension.
- The new section of Empire will connect the existing road from NE Purcell to the intersection of NE Butler Market Road and 27th Street.
- Access to Pine Nursery Park via the north side of the NUID canal trail will remain open during bridge construction.
NE Purcell Bridge Construction Improvements Scheduled to Begin Friday, October 18th
- Expect single lane traffic October 18th while construction barriers are placed on or near the bridge.
- Construction is scheduled to last until May 2020.
- NE Purcell Blvd is expected to have complete closures at times during construction.
- Vehicular traffic will be maintained as much as possible with reduced speed during construction.
- No pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the bridge during construction.
- Expect minimal delays.
Construction Continues on Empire Extension to Butler Market Road
- Thornhill Lane cul de sac is closed for utility work.
- The Empire Bridge construction is expected to begin Monday, October 21st.
- A new pedestrian undercrossing will be built as a part of the Empire bridge construction project.
