Central District Public Workshop
The City of Bend wants to hear from residents, business owners, and others on how to help create a vibrant future for the Central District (along NE 3rd Street from NE Revere to Burnside avenues) with more bike, pedestrian, and transit friendly roads as the area grows and changes in the future. The project’s second public event will share information about existing and projected future conditions in the area, answer questions about a potential “Multimodal Mixed-Use Area” (MMA) designation, and provide opportunities to talk about how and where the MMA designation would be applied. The meeting will be structured as a “workshop,” with a short presentation followed by a question and answers session. Then attendees will meet in small groups with a project staff member to discuss a potential boundary for the Multi-Modal Mixed Use Area designation and the implications it will have for residents and businesses.

The Bend Central District Multimodal Mixed-Use Area plan will look at ways to improve connections for everyone traveling in the area by foot, bike, bus, car, or freight truck as well as ways to develop the area in the future to include a combination of housing, businesses, and other uses to create a vibrant area. This type of development is called a “multimodal, mixed-use area” or MMA. The plan is expected to be finished by June 2014. More information about the project is available on the project website: www.BendCentralMMA.org.
