Neighborhood Roundtable: Wildfire Preparedness
On Thursday, June 12 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Bend Municipal Court (555 NE 15th Street, Bend), the City of Bend will host a workshop for community members followed by a roundtable discussion with neighborhood district board members about wildfire preparedness in Bend.
Neighborhood Resiliency Workshop from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Join Bend Fire & Rescue and City of Bend Code Enforcement for a workshop about how to best protect your home from wildfire. Learn what the City’s Flammable Vegetation Code really means for your property, and how you can contribute to keeping Bend safe from wildfire by owning your zone!
Wildfire Preparedness in Code and Emergency Planning from 6:30 – 7 p.m.
Hear from Assistant City Manager Russ Grayson on how current codes address wildfire risk, and how it’s being considered in the 2025-27 City Council Goals. Then, hear from Risk and Emergency Management Director Carrie Karl about how the City participates in regional emergency planning, and what new efforts are on the horizon for evacuation management.
Neighborhood Roundtable from 7 – 8 p.m.
Following the workshop and presentations, neighborhood district board members are invited to a roundtable discussion with Councilors and City staff around draft 2025-27 Council Goals that address wildfire preparedness. The City invites two representatives from each neighborhood board to be a part of the roundtable discussion. Community members attending the open house are welcome to stay and observe the discussion.
