Paving Work on Franklin Avenue from NE Third Street to NE Eighth Street September 1-3

As part of the Franklin Avenue Improvements Project, crews will pave Franklin Avenue from NE Third Street to NE Eighth Street beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 through Thursday, Sept. 3. Temporary one-way traffic closures will be required, and access to driveways and on-street parking will be temporarily restricted during paving operations. Sidewalks and bike lanes will remain open. Business access will be maintained throughout construction.

• Tuesday, Sept. 1 – Franklin Avenue from Third Street to Fourth Street
  • Requires eastbound traffic closure (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
• Wednesday, Sept. 2 – South side of Franklin Avenue from Fourth Street to Eighth Street
  • Requires eastbound traffic closure (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
• Thursday, Sept. 3 – North side of Franklin Avenue from Fourth Street to Eighth Street
  • Requires westbound traffic closure (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

A detour will be in place on NE Third Street, Greenwood Avenue, and NE Eighth Street.

Work continues from NE First Street through NE Third Street, with occasional nighttime flagging. Additional changes to traffic patterns are expected through mid-September. Sign up to receive a weekly road report at bendoregon.gov/traffic.

Emergency response access will be maintained at all times, and business access will be maintained throughout construction.

The planned schedule for future phases of work:

• Monday, September 14: Work will move west from First Street to Hill Street. This will require full closure of Franklin Avenue, including the undercrossing. Detour routes will include Greenwood, Olney and Colorado avenues.
• Thanksgiving–New Year’s: The undercrossing will reopen temporarily from Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26) through New Year’s Day (Jan. 1).
• January: Road work will resume in January with the full closure of Franklin Avenue from Harriman Street to First Street, including the undercrossing.

One side of the undercrossing path will remain open at all times for pedestrians and cyclists.
