Neighborhood Connections
This program builds targeted projects to slow traffic speeds, improve crossings, and close gaps in the walking and biking network. Projects help people move safely and comfortably throughout the city, whether they are walking, biking, rolling, taking transit or driving.
Online Open House Sept. 17-Oct. 1
Learn about and provide feedback on two City transportation projects:
- Neighborhood Connections (Better Connections and Slower, Safer Speeds) – This project aims to slow traffic speeds and connect walking and biking routes at various locations across the city. Projects can include speed humps, various traffic calming tools, 20 MPH business districts, sidewalk connections and new bikeways. Community members can provide input on which projects to prioritize through feedback surveys.
- Transportation Standards Update – The City is expanding the traffic calming toolbox and looking for your input on which tools to use on which types of street.
If you missed the in-person event on Thursday, Sept. 17, an online Open House will be available Sept. 17-Oct 1, 2026:
Priorities include:
- Completing missing sidewalk and bikeway connections
- Improving crossing safety
- Reducing crash risk
- Slowing traffic in neighborhoods and business districts
- Addressing our most common community concerns about speeding and difficult crossings

Budget Information
This collective of projects is funded with
- $600,000 for bikeway projects from the Transportation Capital Improvement Program (CIP), supported by Transportation Utility Fee
- $600,000 for sidewalk/path project from the Transportation CIP, supported by Transportation Utility Fee
- $1.2 million – one-time funding from Juniper Ridge land sales, marked for citywide neighborhood connections projects
Total: $2.4 million

It is a separate program that is funded differently and projects are chosen differently than our newer Neighborhood Connections collection of projects.
