Pavement Preservation and Repair for 2024

The Transportation & Mobility Department uses public funding responsibly, implementing cost-effective maintenance strategies to maximize the life expectancy of our roads.

The City’s “Keep Good Roads Good” philosophy means we maintain and preserve streets with the most cost-effective treatment for the road condition — the right treatment at the right time.

What to Expect During Street Maintenance

Notifications

Information regarding scheduled street preservation projects is distributed to the community via the City of Bend website, local news stations, social media and in print. Printed materials are mailed to residents directly affected by the detours and road closures. Subscribe to the Weekly Road and Traffic Report for weekly emails about road closures at www.bendoregon.gov/traffic

Prep Work

Depends on project and conditions, but the City may patch or replace deteriorated pavement, fill cracks, and more. With some projects, prep work may begin a year in advance of the street preservation project.

Traffic Markings & Other Work

In the days following road maintenance, crews will be on site to apply traffic markings, clear debris from work zone, and adjust utility valves and manhole covers. Short traffic delays during this time may be necessary.
