Engineering Department

The Engineering Department is focused on strategically planning and delivering projects required to maintain and expand vital infrastructure for our community. These projects help protect public health and safety, improve transportation, safeguard the environment, and foster local economic growth and job creation. By working collaboratively with the community and other City departments, it develops comprehensive long-term master plans for the City’s Water, Sewer, Stormwater, and Transportation systems and subsequently ensures that projects are designed and constructed in alignment with the Standards and Specifications, approved master plans, Transportation System Plan, and City Council directive.

Master Plans

Master Plans are long-term guides used by the City of Bend to meet the demands of the future including growth and development. They assess the condition and capacity of the City’s Water, Sewer, and Stormwater systems, consider land use plans, housing, industry, transportation, and environmental protection, aiming to ensure proper maintenance, prepare for anticipated growth, protect resources, set priorities, and estimate future costs for infrastructure. Master Plans are created with public input to reflect community values and needs.

Standards and Specifications

The City of Bend Design Standards and Construction Specifications outline the design criteria and construction standards for all public infrastructure in Bend. These standards apply to both City Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and private development projects.
