BMPO Budget Committee

The BMPO Budget Committee reviews the proposed annual budget and recommends whether it should be adopted by the BMPO Policy Board.

The committee brings together BMPO Policy Board representatives and appointed community members to review how funds are proposed for the next fiscal year. Members receive the budget message, review and approve the proposed budget, and make a recommendation to the BMPO Policy Board.

Next Meeting

The BMPO Budget Committee typically meets once a year in mid-March, often around midday. Meetings are open to the public.

What We Do

The BMPO Budget Committee provides public review of the BMPO’s proposed annual budget. The committee:

  • Receives the budget message for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Reviews the proposed budget and considers how funds will support BMPO work.
  • Approves the proposed budget before it moves forward.
  • Makes a recommendation to the BMPO Policy Board regarding final budget adoption.

Why This Work Matters

The BMPO budget determines how available funds will support regional transportation planning and other BMPO responsibilities during the upcoming fiscal year. Review by both Policy Board representatives and community members provides an opportunity to consider the proposed budget before it is forwarded to the BMPO Policy Board for adoption.

Members and Membership

The BMPO Budget Committee has 10 voting members:

  • All five members of the BMPO Policy Board
  • Five community members appointed by the BMPO Policy Board

Community members serve three-year terms and may be reappointed. They should live within the BMPO boundary. The Policy Board may also appoint someone from an area that could become part of the BMPO or could be directly affected by a project planned by the BMPO. Committee members are not compensated for their service.

New and returning members may participate in optional opportunities to learn more about the BMPO.
