BMPO Transportation Project Amendment – Public Comment Period

The Bend Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization (BMPO) Policy Board
will consider approval of one amendment to the 2024-2027 Metropolitan
Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP) at their next scheduled meeting on
May 15th, at 12:00 pm.
A 21-day public comment period for the amendment is open through May 14, 2026.

or during Public Comment at the hybrid (in person and online) BMPO Policy
Board meeting. Meeting information will be posted on the BMPO Policy Board
webpage one week prior
to the meeting date.
Below is a summary of the proposed amendment.
Project Name: US97 Multi-Use Trail (Baker Rd – Lava Butte)
- Project Number: 20714
- Summary of Changes: Reduce scope and funding to be added to project number 23735. Update project name. Update project description. Change mile points from 143.45-149.58 to 144.90-149.58. Cancel Utility Relocation phase and increase the Construction phase with those funds.
- Current Project Name: US97 Multi-Use Trail (Baker Rd – Lava Butte)
- New Project Name: US97: Multi-Use Trail (US Forest Service Boundary – Lava Butte)
- Current Project Description: Identify and evaluate planning corridors, design, and construction for a bicycle and pedestrian multi-use trail connecting Baker/Knott Road and the Lava Lands visitor center at Lava Butte, to create a safe path for multi modal travelers.
- New Project Description: Identify and evaluate planning corridors, design, and construction for a bicycle and pedestrian multi-use trail connecting High Desert Museum and the Lava Lands visitor center at Lava Butte, to create a safe path for multimodal travelers.
- Current Project Total: $9,640,791.48
- New Project Total: $8,940,801.48
