Weekly Road Report for the Week of August 24 – 30

Greenwood Avenue

Greenwood Avenue between NE 3rd Street and NE 1st Street for median removal, both east and west center lane closures, August 24 – 28.

In the interest of safety for City crews and the traveling public, the City plans to demolish the median and prepare for paving at night between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. One lane of traffic will remain open in east and west directions during the night work and daytime travel will be mostly unaffected.

Repaving the section of road, which is expected later in the week following the demolition, will occur during daytime hours, but it will be brief and one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction.

NW Colorado Avenue

NW Colorado Avenue between NW Bond Street and NW Wall Street for service removals.

Single lane closure with lane shift, August 24 – 28 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

NW Wall Street

NW Wall Street between NW Colorado Avenue and NW Arizona Avenue for service installations.

Single lane closure with lane shift, August 24 – 28 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Bend Beer Run (Special Event)

Event taking place August 29, between 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.

The course of the run will occur along various City streets with a few temporary stops with flaggers. Expect delays:

  • Galveston Avenue near Drake Park
  • Intersection of Shevlin Hixon and SW Allen Road

NW Archie Briggs Road

NW Archie Briggs Road between NW Lower Village Road and NW Northcliff will have utility work.

Single lane closure with flagging, August 25 – 26 from 5 a.m. – 9 a.m.

NE Revere Avenue

NE Revere Avenue between NE 4th Street and NE 8th Street will have franchise utility aerial installations.

Lane shifts and single lane closures with flagging, August 24 – 28 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

2026 Street Preservation

Chip seal work within the City is finalized with final striping occurring this week by City Crews. No lanes will be closed but expect delays on the following streets while striping occurs.

Work will occur between 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Roads affected:

  • SW Mount Washington Drive
  • NE Olney Avenue
  • NE Purcell Boulevard
  • NE Revere Avenue

Highway 20

ODOT ADA Ramp Installations – Various ADA ramps along Highway 20 will be replaced during overnight work from 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. with minimal delays.

Work to occur through October 2026.

Intersections affected:

  • Powers Road
  • Butler Market Road
  • Purcell Boulevard
  • 27th Street

Brosterhous Road

Brosterhous Road between SE Caldera Drive and the BNSF railroad overcrossing will have a sewer main installation.

Full road closure with detour, July 27 – early September.

NW 8th Street

NW 8th Street between NW Portland Avenue and NW Quincy Avenue will have a watermain replacement.

Full road closure with local access only, July 20 – August 31 from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Intersection of NE 11th Street and NE Norton Avenue

The intersection at NE 11th Street and NE Norton Avenue will have roadway and sidewalk infrastructure installations.

Full intersection closure with detour, July 20 – August 25

Cooley Road and Ranch Village Drive

The City of Bend is constructing a new gravity sewer main along Cooley Road and Ranch Village Drive. This new line will connect to existing infrastructure west of the Cooley Road and 18th Street intersection, optimizing our community’s sewer system. Various road impacts will be required for the project including:

  • Cooley Road (Ranch Village Drive to the 18th Street/Cooley Road roundabout) One lane will be closed, with two‑way traffic maintained through flagging.
    Schedule: July 13 – Fall 2026
  • Ranch Village Drive (Double Peaks Drive to Cooley Road) Closed to through traffic; local access only.
    Schedule: Early August – End of October
  • Egypt Drive (Ranch Village Drive to 18th Street) Closed to through traffic; local access only.
    Schedule: Estimated for the last week of August

Franklin Avenue Improvements Project

This initial work is focused on replacing aging water pipes from 1st Street to 4th Street. Street impacts:

  • Daytime work with lane reductions and flagging required to maintain traffic through the corridor, alternate routes should be taken to avoid delays.
  • Beginning August 3, Westbound Franklin Avenue between 2nd Street and 3rd Street will be closed with a detour provided for approximately 1 month.
  • Beginning August 17, Eastbound Franklin Ave between 3rd Street and 4th Street will be closed.

Franklin Avenue Improvements Project

NE 2nd Street

Water Main Replacement Project – Aging water main will be repaired and replaced along NE 2nd Street.

Phase 1 Work begins July 6 – End of August. Street affected:

  • Ongoing – Phase 1: 2nd Street to be closed from Olney Avenue to Norton Avenue with local traffic allowed through.
  • Phase 2: 2nd Street from Norton Avenue to Lafayette Avenue began work on July 29.
  • Phase 1 will still have restricted access with current work area acting as a staging area.
  • 2nd Street to be closed to through traffic from NE Olney Avenue to NE Lafayette Avenue, with single lane guided access to local traffic through construction extents.

Intersection of SE 15th Street and Ferguson Road

Intersection of SE 15th Street and Ferguson Road will have roundabout construction.

Full intersection closure with detour, June 22 – Fall 2026

Bend Bikeway Project, SE Area

The Bend Bikeway Project provides safer connections for pedestrians and bicycles traveling between neighborhoods, schools, places of work, parks and trails across town. Improvements will include a new shared use path with work primarily occurring as shoulder work, with intermittent single lane closures and flagging.

Work begins June 24 – Fall 2026. Streets affected:

  • SE 9th Street between SE WIlson Avenue and SE Reed Market Road.
  • SE 15th Street between the Larkspur park and Bronzewood Ave.
  • NE Bear Creek Road between NE Alpenview Lane and SE Craven Road.

Bend Bikeway Project

NW Crossing Farmers Market (Special Event)

Special event occurring every Saturday, May 30 – September 26. Multiple road closures related to event:

  • NW Crossing Drive between Mount Washington Drive and NW Crossing Drive (Circle)
  • NW John Freemont Street between NW Ordiway Avenue and NW Fort Clatsop Street
  • NW Fort Clatsop Street between NW Ordway Avenue and NW John Freemont Street

Windsor Drive

Windsor Drive between Brosterhous Road and Woodside Court for a sewer main installation (part of City Septic to Sewer Program).

Full road closure with local access only, April 27 – End of August

King Hezekiah and Fargo Sewer Project

Various Road closures will be required for the installation of new sewer mains. Road closures listed below:

  • SE King Hezekiah Way between SE 15th Street and King Jehu, June 15 – End of October

King Hezekiah and Fargo Sewer Project

Magnolia Lane

Magnolia Lane between Hearthstone Lane and Ferguson Road will have infrastructure improvements.

Full road closure with local access only until August 28

Butler Market Corridor Improvements

This project will construct a new single lane roundabout at the intersection of Butler Market and Wells Acres Road, and pedestrian and bicycle improvements on Butler Market between the 8th Street roundabout to Brinson Blvd.

Roadway impacts:

  • Butler Market Road between NE Brinson Boulevard and Broken Bow will have a westbound lane closure with detour.
  • Overnight closure of Butler Market Road between NE 8th Street and NE Brinson Boulevard will be occurring August 17 from 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. for roundabout paving work

Construction is well underway and is expected to be completed in September of 2026.

Upcoming Roadway Impacts:

Porchfest (Special Event)

This special event will close a few local streets for a community celebration throughout the Discovery West subdivision.

Event to take place on September 12 from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Road closures:

  • NW Kendrick Place from NW Celilo Lane to end of road
  • NW Ochoa Drive from NW Skyline Ranch Road to end of road

Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors. Always exercise increased caution within construction zones. Drivers should use designated detour routes. Nearby residential streets are for local traffic only.
