Bend Economic Development Advisory Board
The Bend Economic Development Advisory Board (BEDAB) advises City Council on matters affecting local businesses, economic opportunity, and Bend’s long-term economic vitality.
What We Do
BEDAB provides business and economic development guidance to City Council. The board brings business-sector expertise and real-world perspectives into City discussions, helping ensure policies, investments, and long-range planning reflect current business conditions and support a resilient, competitive, and inclusive local economy.
The board’s responsibilities include:
- Advising City Council on policies, ordinances, and activities that affect economic vitality.
- Developing a three-year workplan for City Council consideration.
- Reporting annually on progress toward workplan goals.
- Identifying projects and opportunities that support economic growth.
- Recommending updates to the workplan as community and economic needs change.
Why This Work Matters
A strong local economy supports jobs, business growth, community services, and long-term prosperity. The board helps the City better understand the needs and perspectives of Bend’s business community while providing recommendations that support economic opportunity and align with community goals.
By bringing together leaders from key industries and partner organizations, the board helps the City make informed decisions that strengthen local businesses, expand economic opportunity, improve resilience, and support long-term economic prosperity.
Members and Membership
The Bend Economic Development Advisory Board includes up to nine voting members appointed by the Mayor to represent key industries within Bend. Members serve staggered three-year terms, providing continuity and a range of perspectives from the local business community. Members are also subject to the City’s board and commission term-limit requirements.
The board is supported by non-voting representatives from:
- Economic Development for Central Oregon
- Central Oregon Community College
- Oregon State University-Cascades
- East Cascades Works
- St. Charles Health System
- Visit Bend
- Bend Chamber of Commerce
