Midtown Crossings Project Update – junio 17, 2025
Second Street “Complete Street” Modernization – Now Open
Join us for a community celebration of the new Second Street!
Martes, junio 24 at 4:15 pm
Dogwood at the Pine Shed, 821 NE Second Street
The City of Bend and the Bend Urban Renewal Agency will be celebrating the completion of the Second Street project, a Core Area Tax Increment Financing project that signals an urban renewal milestone. Redeveloping and invigorating the Core Area will help achieve the vision of being a place where people can live, work and play. The family-friendly celebration kicks off at 4:15 p.m. with remarks from elected leaders, an opportunity to learn more about the projects and enjoy a delightful, no-host beverage-or-food evening and support local businesses.
A few remaining project items are scheduled for completion during the first weeks in junio, such as planting the landscaped areas, connecting the lights at intersections and adding some final paint. No lane closures will be necessary for these activities.
The newly improved Second Street will now provide:
- A desirable streetscape that creates a welcoming, safer and more vibrant space for businesses and visitors.
- Full sidewalks on both sides of the street will allow safer walking, including for those accessing the businesses.
- A safer, calmer alternative to Third Street for people riding bikes.
- Intersection curb extensions to increase pedestrian visibility and safety.
- Street trees and new landscaping.
Read more about these improvements on the Second Street project page.
