Road and Traffic Update

Upcoming Closures and Updates:

  • Wilson Corridor Improvements Project – Street improvements on Wilson from Second Street to 15th Street. For more information visit the Wilson Project website. This is a multiphase project with various intersections and road closures throughout its entirety.
    • FULL CLOSURE OF WILSON AVENUE between Third Street and Fourth Street (eastbound and westbound closed) beginning Lunes, Jan. 8 through junio 2024. Use posted detour route. 
    • Westbound closure with detour continues on Wilson Avenue between Hill Street and Third Street.
    • Wilson Avenue between Fourth Street and Ninth Street will open beginning Jan. 8 for local access in both eastbound and westbound directions.
  • Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project, Phases 1 & 2 – This project will provide water distribution system upgrades to the Awbrey Butte area with eight interrelated water improvement subprojects. For more information, visit the Awbrey Butte Waterline Improvements Project website. This is a multiphase project with various intersections and road closures throughout its entirety.     • FULL CLOSURE OF PORTLAND AVENUE BRIDGE with detour begins mid-Enero through mid-Marzo. Short durations for periodic asphalt and concrete restoration work are expected through Spring 2025.
    • NW SHEVLIN PARK ROAD between Mt. Washington Drive and NW Crossing Drive – Westbound lane closure with detour begins mid-Enero. Traffic impacts and detours will change during construction.
    • Full road closure on NW Ninth Street between Roanoke and Trenton Avenue, with a detour on NW 10th Street and Roanoke will continue through mid-Enero. Local access along the closure is being maintained.
  • Cascade Natural Gas Improvements – 
    • Work is ongoing along Shevlin Park Road. Expect lane shifts and single lane closures with flagging between the College Way roundabout to the Crossing Drive roundabout. Expect delays. Use posted detour routes.
    • Additional closures in the area will be required as construction progresses.

Ongoing Closures:

  • Franchise Utility Relocation Work – As part of the upcoming City of Bend’s Septic to Sewer Program construction project, the City of Bend has been coordinating with all franchise utilities (water, gas, power, telecommunications, etc.) within the project area on relocating their infrastructure where potential conflicts were identified with the City’s planned improvements. The water purveyor for this area – Roats Water System –continues relocation work. This work is anticipated to last through Enero. Closures related for this work are listed below.     • Full closure at intersection of Silver Sage Street and Benham Road Jan. 8 -17 weather permitting
    • Single lane closure on Silver Sage Street between Tapadera Street and Loy Lane.
  • Neff and Purcell Improvement Project – The Neff Road and Purcell Boulevard Improvements Project is providing both north-south connectivity and improving safety in a vital area of Bend. For more information visit the Neff and Purcell Improvements Project website.
    • Intersection of NE Neff Road and NE Purcell Boulevard is open to four-way traffic. Shoulder work continues. Expect lane shifts with flaggers.
    • NE Purcell Boulevard between NE Full Moon Drive to the end of street, full road closure with detour through mid-late Enero 2024. Dates are weather dependent.
    • Some landscape work may be completed in the spring due to weather.
